Republican decrees approving cooperation treaties issued [29 October 2008] Decree No. 244 for 2008 approved a protocol of health cooperation between Yemen and Djibouti signed in Djibouti on 18 February 2008. Decree No. 245 for 2008 approved an executive program in environmental field between Yemen and Tunisia for years 2008-2009-2010 signed in Tunisia on 2 April 2008. Decree No. 246 for 2008 ratified a memo of understanding between diplomatic institute in Yemen and diplomatic institute in Tunisia signed in Tunisia on 2 April 2008. Decree No. 247 for 2008 approved an agreement of carrying persons and goods between Yemen and Tunisia signed in Tunisia on 2 April 2008. Decree No. 248 for 2008 approved an executive program in fields of youths and sports between Yemen and Tunisia for 2008-20009 signed in Tunisia City on 2 April 2008. Decree No. 249 for 2008 approved an agricultural cooperation agreement between Yemen and Tunisia signed in Tunisia on 2 April 2008. Decree No. 250 for 2008 ratified a memo of understanding of cooperation in fields of drinking safe water and sanitation between Yemen and Syria signed in Sana'a on 11 May 2008. Decree No. 251 for 2008 ratified a memo of understanding of cooperation between agriculture Ministry in Yemen and agriculture Ministry in Syria signed in Sana'a on 11 May 2008. Decree No. 252 for 2008 ratified a memo of understanding of cooperation in social insurances between Yemen and Syria signed in Sana'a on 11 May 2008. Decree No. 253 for 2008 approved a protocol of cooperation between secretariat general of the cabinet in Yemen and secretariat general of the cabinet in Egypt signed in Cairo on 12 June 2008. in telecommunications and information technology between Yemen and
President Saleh thanks Saudi King President Ali Abdullah Saleh thanked Tuesday Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz AL Saud for the generous donation of $100 million to counter consequences of the rainstorm in the eastern governorates of Hadramout and Mahrah. On a phone call, president Saleh voiced the appreciation of the Yemeni leadership and people to the Saudi donation that included foodstuff and medical aid for the rainstorm-affected people in the governorates. President Saleh affirmed that this noble attitude of King Abdullah indicated to the strong relations linked the two brotherly countries and people. WB to count damages in Hadramout A delegation from the World Bank will conduct a comprehensive survey for all affected areas in the governorate of Hadramout governorate. During his meeting with deputy Governor of Hadramout for Technical Affairs Fahd al-Menhali, the delegation said that it would make detailed reports on damages in infrastructure, especially in roads, electricity and water and based on them, all the requisite assistance will be provided be the Bank. For his part, al-Menhali briefed WB delegation on damages resulting from rainstorm and floods hit the governorate. The meeting also reviewed relief efforts the province made to shelter victims as well as to count all damages. Damage in rain-devastated areas much more than reported, says
OIC Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has said that the material and human losses caused due to heavy rains that hit the eastern provinces of Yemen are much more than what media reported. The statement was based on the reports of the OIC mission sent to Yemen to conduct reports on the damage and loss mount. Ihsanoglu said conditions of the people in the rainstorm-devastated areas became disastrous as the Yemeni government and the OIC and other relief providers facing difficulties to deliver aid for affected people. He urged the OIC member states to provide helicopters as soon as possible to help the Yemeni government efforts to reach-out the affected. Saleh receives condolences over floods disaster President Ali Abdullah Saleh received on Tuesday telephone calls from President Hosni Mobarak of Egypt, President Basher al-Assad's of Syria and Emir Shaikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani of Qatar . with president Saleh and the Yemeni people over the victims of heavy
rains which swept Eastern Hadramout and Mahrah governorates.
